顏文樑 1893年生于江蘇蘇州。1919年創(chuàng)辦美術(shù)畫賽會(huì)，為全國(guó)性定期美術(shù)展覽會(huì)。1922年與胡粹中、朱士杰創(chuàng)辦蘇州美術(shù)專科學(xué)校并任校長(zhǎng)。1928年赴法國(guó)留學(xué)，入國(guó)立巴黎美術(shù)專門學(xué)校，在皮埃爾 羅朗士教授畫室學(xué)習(xí)。1933年至1934年曾兼任南京中央大學(xué)藝術(shù)系代理系主任、之江大學(xué)建筑系教授。1938年在上海開辦蘇州美術(shù)專科學(xué)校滬校。1952年以來，曾任中國(guó)美術(shù)學(xué)院教授、顧問、副院長(zhǎng)，中國(guó)美術(shù)家協(xié)會(huì)理事、上海分會(huì)副主席。曾獲法國(guó)國(guó)家沙龍畫會(huì)榮譽(yù)獎(jiǎng)、“第六屆全國(guó)美展”榮譽(yù)獎(jiǎng)。
Yan Wenliang was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province in 1893. In 1919, he organized Fine Arts Competition Show which then became a regular exhibition on national level. Along with Hu Cuizhong and Zhu Shijie in 1922, he established Suzhou Art School where he also served as Headmaster. In 1928 he went to study in Higher College of Fine Arts in Paris. Between 1933 and 1934, he worked as Deputy Director of Fine Art Department of Nanjing Central University and professor of Architecture Department of Zhijiang University. Since 1952, he was Vice Dean and consultant of East China College of China Central Academy of Fine Arts and professor of China Academy of Art and council member of China Artists Association as well as Vice President of its Shanghai Branch. He has won Honorary Prize of French National Salon Show and was prized also with Honorary Award in the Sixth National Art Exhibition.
